Guerilla Homes

Guerilla Homes

Knott Architects featured in the four-part BBC3 programme Guerilla Homes, hosted by Charlie Luxton in 2004. The series examines the city’s cracks and crevices, discovering how people have used ‘guerilla tactics’ to claim them.

The programme features two of Knott Architects’ widely published projects, both in North London. Tollington Park is a live/work development in a converted Finsbury Park handbag factory comprising two family homes and two artist’s studios. Custom Self-build Mews Housing is a collective conversion of an old factory into three family dwellings and two flats.

“I think this is the kind of architecture that should win prizes… because it is sensitive and sensible, and has empowered people to use architecture to improve the quality of their own lives” – Charlie Luxton, ‘Guerilla Homes’, BBC3 08/09/04
